Alastair Davidson the president of CMPT, is a degreed metallurgist and a Level III NDE professional, with more than 30 years of experience in the metal casting industry, including twenty years of consulting experience. Alastair has worked in all departments of a foundry including operations, management, quality, technology and testing. He has audited more than 90 steel, iron, non-ferrous foundries and has been a flux consultant at integrated and mini-mills. He has audited foundries for sourcing in North America, Asia and Europe. He has written and presented over 30 technical papers at National Conferences and received the EPRI innovators award for his work on Plasma Refining of Steel. He is a past Chairman of the Steel Division of AFS (AFS) keeping abreast of Research and Development in the fields of metal casting and has served on industry committees with the Steel Founders' Society of America (SFSA) Electric Furnace Committee and ASTM. Alastair has particular expertise in steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy and iron castings. CMPT also has a network of associate consultants that provide additional skills and professional expertise and are used as appropriate.
